Jelly dancer – NEW PRINT!

For those of you who follow me on social media might have seen that I have been working on a “jellyfish-ballerina” lately.

I have some kind of mixed emotions when it comes to jellyfishes. I think they are so incredibly beautiful to look at but at the same time so scary. Floating and fragile, almost a little luminous, dancing in the dark, ready to attack you with their burning threads. (Yes, I’m really scared of them! If I know there are jellyfishes in the water. I’m not the first one to jump in ;)

But I mean, have you ever seen anything so beautiful and scary at the same time? Such fascinating creatures…

In the summer, I spend a lot of time out at my parents’ summer house by the sea.
I can lay on the bridge an look down on the water for hours. Watch everything that lives on the bottom. Like a huge aquarium! Tiny crabs walking around, seaweed that sways back and forth. Jellyfishes that slowly moves, almost dancing below me. That’s where I got the idea from. From when I watched the jellyfishes from the bridge, I thought that they almost looked like they were dancing. Like tiny Jellyfish-ballerinas…

So that’s an idea I’ve had in the back of my head for a while now. But after our surf vacation in Costa Rica, where we got to play and “dance around” in the sea for several weeks. The idea popped up again! So when we got home, I just had to draw it! It took about 20 hours (and 3 audio books) to finish. But then finally my little Jelly dancer was born.

Here are some pictures of the process.

At this stage, I tried to figure out what kind of face and expression I would like her to have.

I decided to draw her a mask to give her a more mysterious look.

Have a beautiful day darlings! And thank you for following me on my creative journey <3
